Ghajnsielem obtained a 4-1 win over bottom-placed Sannat Lions so they registered their fourth win from four matches in the Play-Out phase of the championship.

For this match, Sannat needed a win to move away from the bottom place on the table but Ghajnsielem scored a goal during the early stages of each half to pave the way to the win.  Ghajnsielem seemed confident as they were playing without any pressure since they already achieve the mathematical certainty to retain their division I status for another season.  The match could have produced more goals but the two goalkeepers were among the protagonists of the encounter with some good interventions that denied the respective strikers from scoring.  Throughout the encounter, Sannat created enough chances where they could have obtained at least a positive result, but the strikers were very erratic in their finishing and compromised the possibility to earn something from this encounter.

Timeline:

The match was well contested during the first period with scoring opportunities at the two ends of the field of play that was created throughout the forty-five minutes.

29’ Sannat missed a golden scoring opportunity when Deison Arvey Cuero passed to Camilo Sanchez Gonzales who was alone in front of the goalkeeper but the striker hit badly and the same keeper blocked the danger to a corner.

44’ (crossbar) Ghajnsielem’s Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos unmarked Naim Ibrahim Behadj but the latter saw his shot that was partially saved by Sannat’s goalie.  The same goalkeeper retained a good position and blocked the attempt from the rebound by Kurt Bajada and also deflected on the crossbar a third consecutive shot from close distance by Alberto Xuereb until the defence cleared the melee from the goalmouth to a corner.

45+1’ Sannat missed another good opportunity to level the score when a cross by Tristen Agius arrived to Camilo Sanchez Gonzales but the latter concluded high from an ideal position.

4’ (post) Ghajnsielem went close to score but an attempt directly from a corner kick by Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos was saved by goalie Luke Buttigieg with the aid of the post.

8’ (0-2) The Blacks however doubled the score with a goal that arrived directly from a free kick by Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos that ended out of the reach of Sannt’s goalie.
