In the last match from the Play-Out of the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division, Oratory Youths registered a large win over Ghajnsielem.  This was Oratory’s sixth win in the championship and with this result, the Youths ended a very positive season where they managed to retain their first-division status before the last match of the campaign.

For this match, Ghajnsielem, who was already secure in the top place in the Play-Out, started the encounter with several regular players missing and allowed a group of very young players to gain experience in a match from the championship.  This was also an opportunity for Ghajnsielem to give some rest to their established players prior to the final of the BOV GFA Cup against champions Nadur Youngsters in their attempt to end the season in the same way as it started when Ghajnsielem defeated Nadur in the Super Cup final.

Oratory dominated throughout the ninety minutes as the Blacks found it very difficult to be competitive.  Ghajnsielem practically compromised the possibility to obtain a positive result by conceding goals during the opening minutes of the encounter as Oratory kept their pressure in an attempt to score as many goals as possible.

The main interest in the match between Ghajnsielem and Oratory turned out to be focused around the Top Scorer of the championship as Oratory’s striker Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa was aiming to score six goals to reach the current Top Scorer Nadur’s, Marcelo Jr Barbosa.  Oratory’s Brazilian striker was actually the main protagonist of the encounter and went very close to achieving his personal target as he scored five goals for his side to take his tally to 14 goals in the championship, but remained one short of his brother Marcelo Jr Barbosa who scored 15 goals and the latter may also increase his total if he scores again in Nadur’s last match of the championship.

Timeline:

Oratory had an excellent start and took the lead at a very early stage of the encounter so that they administered play and created more danger than their opponents so that they practically put their minds at rest by the half-hour mark through a hat-trick by Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa.

4’ (0-1) Oratory Youths opened the score when Jovan Mijuskovic prolonged with a header towards Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa and the latter entered the area and placed in goal with a fine shot that ended out of the reach of Ghajnsielem’s goalie.

12’ The Youths were again dangerous through a header by Haraan Goncalves Barbosa following a cross by Jovan Mijuskovic but the ball ended on the roof of the net.

13’ (0-2) Oratory doubled the score when a close-ranged shot by Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa following a low cross by Jovan Mijuskovic was blocked by goalie Carlos Camilleri, but from the clearance, the ball arrived again to the Brazilian striker who concluded easily in the net.

25’ Ghajnsielem’s goalie Carlos Camilleri was called to make a good save to turn to a corner a low shot by Jovan Mijuskovic.

31’ The same goalkeeper once again made a good intervention to block another effort by Jovan Mijuskovic who was alone inside Ghajnsielem’s area and from the rebound the shot by Daniel Atzori was blocked by the defence.

32’ (0-3) Oratory increased the lead when Nikola Sutic unmarked Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa inside Ghajnsielem’s area and the latter placed in goal with a low shot from an angled position.

35’ The same Barbosa went close to scoring a fourth personal goal but his strike from close distance was saved to a corner by goalie Carlos Camilleri.

Second Half

Oratory continued to dominate the match and insisted to score more goals despite four substitutions that they carried out at the beginning of the second period.  Ghajnsielem struggled to neutralise Oratory’s play and found it very difficult to create danger for their opponents so they only managed to avoid conceding the defeat with a larger margin.

1’ (0-4) Oratory’s Hraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa scored his fourth personal goal in the match, and the fourth goal for his side, after 58 seconds of play into the second period when he entered Ghajnsielem’s area from the left flank with personal action and concluded in the net with a shot towards the far post.

6’ Ghajnsielem’s goalie Carlos Camilleri was at the right place and blocked another attempt from close distance by Haraan Goncalves Barbosa.

25’ The same keeper once again made an important intervention to turn to a corner an attempt directly from a corner kick by Nikola Sutic.

28’ Ghajnsielem went close to score when a header by Junior Valdeci Candido from a free kick by David Portelli ended high.

35’ (0-5) Oratory’s Brazilian striker Haraan Hajazan Goncalves scored another personal goal to increase the lead for his side with a low shot following a personal action with the ball ending in goal despite the attempt of the goalkeeper to block the danger.

37’ (1-5) penalty Ghansielem managed to score a consolation goal when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by substitute Matthew Zammit on Ghajnsielem’s substitute Pedro Augusto Mota De Lima and the same Brazilian striker converted from the penalty spot.

41’ Oratory were again dangerous through a strike from outside the area by Nikola Sutic that ended just wide.
