The derby match was quite contested during the first hour of play.  The Wanderers seemed in a better shape as Oratory, who had two of their foreign players missing due to suspension, were fragile at their defence.  Until the hour mark SK Victoria Wanderers were in th lead but Oratory were not demoralised and were still aiming to recover the deficit.  However, the Wanderers took full command during the last part of the encounter and scored three goals without a reply from their opponents to end up obtaining a convincing win.

Timeline:

The Wanderers saw more of the ball during the first half and produced more scoring opportunities but the Youths managed to remain in contention as they ended the first half trailing by just one goal.

7’ The Wanderers produced the first dangerous action when Junior Conceicao Cabral entered Oratory’s area but his low shot was partially saved by goalie Angelo Brignoli.  From the rebound defender Anthony Sultana denied Emerson Zammit from the tap in and cleared to a corner.  From the same corner action, a header by Alexandre Galiano Lazzarini was neutralised without difficulty by goalie Angelo Brignoli.

12’ The Wanderers were again dangerous when a corner kick by Marcus Vinicius Claudino Ramos arrived to Alexandre Galiano Lazzarini but the latter saw his header that was blocked by the goalkeeper.

27’ (1-0) Victoria opened the score when a free kick from long distance by Marcus Vinicius Claudino Ramos surprised goalie Angelo Brignoli who hit badly and the ball ended in goal.

29’ (2-0) Oratory were shocked and the Wanderers doubled their lead when Junior Conceicao Cabral entered the area from the right flank and from his cross Emerson Zammit headed easily in goal.

36’ (2-1) Oratory re-opened the issue when Bruno Coca Leonardo took the ball from Victoria’s defence and surprised the goalkeeper with a fine strike from outside the area.

44’ The Wanderers could have regained a two-goal lead but Luke Fenech headed wide from close distance following a cross by Caique Silvio Souza Da Silva.

45’ Oratory’s goalie Angelo Brignoli made a good save to turn to a corner a volley from a good position by Kenneth Mercieca.

Second Half

12’ (3-2) Oratory reduced the deficit for just one goal for the second time with a goal that arrived through a shot from long distance by Leonardo Bruno Coca.

16’ (4-2) The Wanderers managed to regain the comfortable lead when Junior Conceicao Cabral arrived on the ball before the goalkeeper following a free kick by Claudino Ramos to turn the ball into the net.

24’ Victoria’s Marcus Vinicius Claudino Ramos had an attempt directly from a free kick that missed the target.

28’ Oratory missed an opportunity to reduce the score when Leonardo Bruno Coca delivered a cross from the right flank but the header by Joshua Buttigieg from an ideal position ended wide.

31’ The Youths went again close to score their third goal but a header by debutant Gregory Rocha Mendes Da Silva following a cross by Leonardo Bruno Coca ended just over the crossbar.

37’ (5-2) The Wanderers put the score beyond Oratory’s reach when Caique Silvio Souza Da Silva concluded in goal with a shot on the run after receiving from Junior Conceicao Cabral.
