Holders Nadur Youngsters eased past second division side Munxar Falcons in the first match
from the quarter finals stage of the BOV GFA Cup so that they remain in contention for all the
honours in the Gozitan football for the third consecutive season.

Nadur as expected held territorial supremacy throughout the encounter and the qualification was
practically never in contention. Nadur took the lead in their first serious action but for most of
the first period Munxar rested well and denied Nadur from scoring more goals. However, Nadur
dominated after the break and ended up scoring four goals, through a brace each by Marcelo

Barbosa and Joao Vitor De Oliveira Florencio, to register a score which reflects their superiority
over their opponents.

Timeline:
Nadur took command of play from the first minutes of play but although they scored an early
goal they found it difficult to build a comfortable lead before the break.
4’ (1-0) The Youngsters opened the score when Gennaro Hili passed through Munxar’s
defence from the left hand side and surprised the goalkeeper with a low shot towards the far
corner of the net.
13’ Nadur should have added another goal when the same Hili delivered a ball towards the
goalmouth from a corner kick but Ian Xuereb and Manwel Tabone failed to connect from close
distance.
22’ (goal disallowed) Nadur Marcelo Barbosa crossed from the left flank and Marcelo Pereira
Muniz headed in the net but the goal was disallowed for an offside infringement.
23’ Munxar’s goalie Joel Micallef had good timing as he left his position and took the ball before
Joao Vitor De Oliveira Florencio could conclude towards goal following a through pass by
Marcelo Barbosa.
25’ Munxar went closest to create danger within Nadur’s area but Vitor Gabriel Soarez Souza
headed badly a free kick by Emmanuel Galea and goalie Steve Sultana saved without difficulty.
39’ Nadur missed another good opportunity to score the second goal but Brandon Said headed
incredibly over the crossbar following a cross from the left by Marcelo Barbosa.
HT (1-0)

Second Half
Nadur increased their efforts after the resumption and managed to put their minds at rest from
the qualification and scored two goals at an early stage of the second period so that they
relieved themselves from the pressure for most of the second period.
2’ Munxar’s goalie Joel Micallef denied Nadur from scoring when he blocked a close ranged
header by Marcelo Pereira Muniz from a corner kick by Gennaro Hili.

13’ (2-0) The Youngsters doubled the core when substitute Matthias Said received a cross from
Joao Vitor De Oliveira Florencio and from his pass Marcelo Jr Barbosa placed in goal with a
low shot.
16’ (3-0) Nadur increased their lead when Marcelo Barbosa released Joao Vitor De Oliveira
Florencio and the latter concluded in goal with a low drive.
18’ Munxar’s goalie Joel Micallef was called to make another good intervention to save a low
shot from close distance by Marcelo Pereira Muniz.
30’ (4-0) Nadur added another goal when Marcelo Barbosa passed inside Munxar’s area to
Joao Vitor De Oliveira Florencio and the latter netted with a low shot.
37’ (5-0) The fifth goal for Nadur arrived through Marcelo Jr Barbosa who passed inside
Munxar’s area and placed easily in goal from close distance.
45’ (goal disallowed) Nadur could have increased their margin but a goal by Gennaro Hili was
disallowed for a foul by the same player.
