Gabriel Farrugia: SK Victoria Wanderers FC
The BOV Gozo football player of the month for December was won by SK Victoria Wanderers midfielder Gabriel Farrugia. The presentation of the trophy for this honour was made by Mrs. Charmaine Borg, manager of the Bank of Valletta for the Gozo Region at the Bank’s office in Victoria Gozo.

Gabriel Farrugia who is 23 years old joined SK Victoria Wanderers at the beginning of this season after playing in the last seasons with Nadur Youngsters where he won the main honours of Gozitan football. Despite his young age, Farrugia established a regular place in the Wanderers team that was returning to the top division after winning the second division championship last season. During this season Gabriel Farrugia played an important role so that the Wanderers kept away from the relegation zone and they have the ability to finish this league in third place. Farrugia plays an important role in the team led by coach Mark Buttigieg because he maintains a central position where he protects the defence as much as he can, recovers possession in the middle of the field and is often among the players who support attackers in offensive actions.
During the month of December SK Victoria Wanderers achieved two decisive victories in the first division BOV Gozo Football League to break away from the teams in the relegation zone and join the teams in the first half of the table. In the first game, the Wanderers achieved a one-to-one victory against Oratory Youths, and in the last game for the year 2023 they beat Għajnsielem with a score of six to three, where Gabriel Farrugia scored the first goal to -Wanderers paved the way for this victory with a great score.
