Kercem Ajax, who have already been mathematically crowned Second Division champions, continued their dominance in the category by securing their twelfth victory in as many matches with a 2-1 win over Munxar Falcons. Kercem were the better side for long stretches but struggled to convert their chances.
Kercem’s win was sealed with a goal in each half, though in the closing stages, they eased off the pressure, allowing their opponents to get back into the match. However, Munxar’s goal, only the second conceded by Kercem in the league so far, came too late, and Kercem managed to control their narrow lead with authority until the final whistle.
Timeline:
Kercem started on the attack but slowed down after taking the lead, resulting in a first half with few clear-cut scoring opportunities.
15’ (1-0) – Kercem opened the scoring when Lorenzo Atzori headed home from a corner delivered by Andre Azzopardi.

Second Half:
Munxar attempted a reaction, but Kercem continued to control the match, which became more open with more goal attempts.
9’ Munxar came close with a shot from Nathaniel Mercieca, but the ball hit the side netting.
16’ (2-0) Kercem doubled their lead through Samuel Azzopardi, who entered the box from the right and slotted a low shot past the goalkeeper.
27’ Kercem substitute Christian Vella fired a central shot that was comfortably saved by Munxar’s goalkeeper Joel Micallef.
28’ Munxar responded with an angled shot from Nathaniel Mercieca that went wide.
34’ Kercem threatened again with a header from substitute Keith Sciberras, but the ball missed the target.
39’ Kercem had another dangerous attempt from a free kick by Christian Vella, but his shot went over the bar.
41’ Kercem goalkeeper Franklin Vella reacted well to block a free-kick effort from Neil Mifsud.
42’ (2-1) Munxar reduced the deficit when Nathaniel Mercieca delivered a cross from the right, and Daniel Azzopardi anticipated the defence to finish past the goalkeeper.
