Sannat Lions, who recently underwent changes in their club administration, secured three important points with a dominant 5-0 victory over Zebbug Rovers. With this win, at the end of matchday 12, they reclaimed second place in the standings, making them favourites to earn a playoff spot for promotion.

The match was highly competitive in the first half, with Zebbug enjoying a certain level of supremacy but failing to convert their play into scoring chances. Sannat remained well-organized in defence and capitalized on a key scoring opportunity to take the lead before halftime. In the second half, Sannat completely outplayed their opponents and ended up claiming a resounding victory.

Timeline:

Zebbug appeared more motivated in the opening half and had more initiative, but they lacked effectiveness in attack and created very few clear scoring chances. On the other hand, Sannat remained alert in defence and mostly relied on counterattacks, eventually breaking the deadlock and maintaining their lead until halftime.

10’ Sannat came close to opening the scoring, but a shot from a tight angle by Aud-Gustine James Obaje went wide.

17’ Zebbug had a promising opportunity, but Marco Ciangura’s shot went over the bar.

29’ (0-1) Sannat took the lead when Aaron Azzopardi’s free kick was poorly cleared by the Zebbug defence, allowing Gabriel Debrincat to capitalise and find the net despite the goalkeeper’s attempt to save it.

31’ Zebbug responded with a shot from Nathan John Cini from a good position, but it missed the target.

34’ Another chance for Zebbug as Harry Paulin fired a low shot from outside the box, but it went wide.

45+1’ Zebbug’s goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba kept his team in the match with a difficult save on a free kick attempt from Aaron Azzopardi.

HT (0-1)

Second Half:

In the second half, Sannat came out more adventurous, looking to consolidate their lead, while Zebbug continued to struggle to create dangerous chances. Sannat doubled their lead just after the hour mark and continued to control the game until the final whistle.

2’  Sannat nearly doubled their lead when Emanuel Bennici broke into the box, but his shot was blocked with difficulty by Żebbuġ goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba.

5’ (Crossbar) Another close call for Sannat as Aaron Azzopardi’s free kick struck the crossbar.
8’ Zebbug goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba rushed off his line just in time to collect the ball at the edge of the box before Aud-Gustine James Obaje could finish.

17’ (0-2) Sannat doubled their lead when Aud-Gustine James Obaje set up Gabriel Debrincat, who lobbed the ball into an empty net after the goalkeeper had come off his line in an attempt to block the danger.

26’ (0-3) Sannat extended their advantage as Aud-Gustine James Obaje outran the defence from midfield and, after entering the box, slotted a low shot past the goalkeeper.

23’ Zebbug had a chance to reduce the deficit, but Andrew Ofulue Chukwuwinke’s close-range effort was blocked by Sannat goalkeeper Kyle Attard.

34’ Sannat launched a counterattack, but substitute Tristen Agius’ shot was stopped by Zebbug goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba.

39’ (0-4) Another goal for Sannat as substitute Mikhail Vella played in Aud-Gustine James Obaje, who beat the goalkeeper with a low shot.

41’ (0-5) Sannat sealed their victory with a fifth goal when substitute Paul Said broke past the defence, entered the box, and, after dribbling past the goalkeeper, slotted the ball into an empty net.
