St Lawrence Spurs collected three points from a narrow victory over Oratory Youths, registering their second positive result from their opening two league matches. This was St Lawrence’s first win of the campaign, and with this result, they started the season among the leading teams, showing clear potential to enjoy a more satisfying season compared to recent years.
On the other hand, this was a second consecutive defeat for Oratory Youths, and at this stage, their ambitions for the season could already be under threat. The match between Oratory and St Lawrence was a balanced contest, with each side enjoying the upper hand for one half. During the first half, Oratory were the more adventurous team but failed to create serious scoring opportunities. After the break, St Lawrence took control of the game, producing several dangerous chances in attack. The Spurs scored the decisive goal of the match and came close on three other occasions, hitting the woodwork, to eventually claim a deserved victory.
