In the final match from Matchday 12 of the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions secured an important 4–1 victory over Munxar Falcons to keep pace with league leaders St Lawrence Spurs.
The match proved more challenging for Sannat than expected during the first half, as Munxar matched their opponents well and the teams went into halftime level at 1–1. Munxar could have turned the match in their favour in the opening minute of the second half but failed to convert a penalty. Sannat reacted immediately, took control of the game, and went on to score the two goals that decided the contest.

Timeline
First Half:
Sannat appeared better organised early on, but Munxar were disciplined and, despite conceding a penalty, they managed to equalise and keep the score unchanged until the break.
10’ Sannat missed a good opportunity when a header from a corner, taken from a favourable position, finished wide.
20’ (0–1) Penalty Sannat took the lead when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by Mohammed Doughmi on Igor Nedeljkovic. The Sannat striker converted from the spot.
35’ (1–1) Munxar equalised after the Sannat defence failed to clear a corner, allowing Luke Meilak to collect the ball and finish low into the net.
37’ Munxar threatened again with another effort from Luke Meilak, but goalkeeper Lorjean Xuereb blocked the danger.
38’ Sannat responded when a header from Igor Nedeljkovic from a good position went just wide.
39’ Munxar goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba denied Sannat from regaining the lead, saving a powerful effort from Keiran Calleja after a solo run into the box.

Second Half:
Munxar missed a golden chance to take the lead in the opening moments of the second half, and Sannat took full advantage, dominating the remainder of the match and sealing a comfortable win.
1’ (Penalty missed – wide) Munxar were awarded a penalty just 18 seconds into the second half for a handball by Sam Frank Bajada, but Luke Meilak sent his effort wide of the post.
10’ (1–2) Sannat regained the lead when Igor Nedeljkovic fired towards goal and substitute Cyriel Buttigieg followed up to score from close range.
18’ Munxar goalkeeper Gabriel Saliba made an important save, denying a close-range header from Igor Nedeljkovic amid a crowded goalmouth.
23’ (Crossbar) Sannat came close again when Nedeljkovic struck the crossbar.
32’ (1–3) Sannat practically secured the win with a powerful strike from Paul Said that gave the goalkeeper no chance.
45’ (1–4) Sannat sealed the victory in stoppage time when Cyriel Buttigieg broke away on a counter-attack and squared the ball to Igor Nedeljkovic, who finished easily into an empty net.
