In the last match from the Play-Out of the BOV Gozo Football League of the first division, Oratory Youths registered a large win over Ghajnsielem. This was Oratory’s sixth win in the championship and with this result, the Youths ended a very positive season where they managed to retain their first-division status before the last match of the campaign.
For this match, Ghajnsielem, who was already secure in the top place in the Play-Out, started the encounter with several regular players missing and allowed a group of very young players to gain experience in a match from the championship. This was also an opportunity for Ghajnsielem to give some rest to their established players prior to the final of the BOV GFA Cup against champions Nadur Youngsters in their attempt to end the season in the same way as it started when Ghajnsielem defeated Nadur in the Super Cup final.
Oratory dominated throughout the ninety minutes as the Blacks found it very difficult to be competitive. Ghajnsielem practically compromised the possibility to obtain a positive result by conceding goals during the opening minutes of the encounter as Oratory kept their pressure in an attempt to score as many goals as possible.
The main interest in the match between Ghajnsielem and Oratory turned out to be focused around the Top Scorer of the championship as Oratory’s striker Haraan Hajazan Goncalves Barbosa was aiming to score six goals to reach the current Top Scorer Nadur’s, Marcelo Jr Barbosa. Oratory’s Brazilian striker was actually the main protagonist of the encounter and went very close to achieving his personal target as he scored five goals for his side to take his tally to 14 goals in the championship, but remained one short of his brother Marcelo Jr Barbosa who scored 15 goals and the latter may also increase his total if he scores again in Nadur’s last match of the championship.
