Xaghra United earned three precious points with a 4–3 victory over SK Victoria Wanderers, extending their advantage over bottom-placed Nadur Youngsters. As a result, if Nadur fail to secure a win in their next match, Xaghra will be mathematically safe from direct relegation.
Both teams went into the match in search of a positive result, albeit for different reasons. The Wanderers are still involved in other competitions, while Xaghra continue their fight to avoid relegation. Victoria were missing a number of regular players as a precaution ahead of their remaining fixtures, but the match was lively throughout, as reflected by the seven-goal scoreline. Xaghra showed greater determination and resilience in overcoming difficult moments, and for this reason, their victory was well deserved.

Timeline
First Half:
Victoria took control of the game in the opening stages, but Xaghra reacted strongly and turned the scoreline around to build a two-goal lead. Victoria responded towards the end of the first half to pull back into the match, making the contest more competitive.
4’ (post) Victoria nearly took an early lead when Matthew David Drury’s cross was poorly cleared and the ball struck the post.
12’ Another opportunity followed for the Wanderers, but a central shot by Jean Bugeja was saved by Xaghra goalkeeper Mattia Zammit.
16’ (1–0) Victoria opened the scoring when Ender Vielma set up Mustapha Amodu, who fired a low shot into the net despite the goalkeeper’s attempt to intercept.
21’ (1–1) Xaghra levelled the score as Marlon Mamo delivered a cross from the right and Ibrahim Salis headed home from close range.
32’ (1–2) Xaghra went ahead through an angled shot by Pedrinho that caught the defence and goalkeeper by surprise.
33’ (1–3) Victoria appeared shaken as Xaghra extended their lead when Lucas Farrugia played in Yousouf Rodo, who lobbed the goalkeeper from an ideal position.
40’ (disallowed goal) Xaghra thought they had added another when Ibrahim Salis found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
45+2’ (2–3) Victoria reduced the deficit late in the half. A free kick by Jean Bugeja led to Nicolas Orozco hitting the post, and from the rebound Ender Vielma headed into the net.
HT (2-3)
Second Half:
In the second half, the Wanderers increased their pressure in an attempt to equalise. After restoring parity, Xaghra pushed forward once again, regained the lead, and then managed the match well through to the final whistle.
19’ (3–3) Victoria equalised when Ender Vielma won possession from the defence, moved forward, and beat the goalkeeper with a low shot.
22’ Xaghra goalkeeper Mattia Zammit made a fine save to deny Matthias Cordina.
26’ Xaghra responded with a shot by Yousouf Rodo that went just wide of the post.
27’ Victoria missed a good chance when Mustapha Amodu advanced on his own but fired a low shot wide.
30’ Victoria goalkeeper Omar Xuereb saved with some difficulty from a powerful long-range effort by Pedrinho.
32’ Pedrinho tried again for Xaghra, but his shot went over the bar.
34’ (3–4) Xaghra scored the decisive goal when Ibrahim Salis laid the ball back to Johann Bajada, who struck a first-time shot from outside the box that left the goalkeeper with no chance.
