3-1 win over Munxar Falcons and with the points obtained they defended their comfortable lead over the
other teams who are aiming to win the promotion.

The Wanderers held territorial supremacy for long stretches but Munxar were determined to obtain a
positive result in their attempt to improve their position on the table. Munxar remained in contention to
obtain at least a point from this match until the end of the first half as the Citizens increased their efforts
after the break and obtained the win by scoring the two goals that decided the issue. Victoria’s striker
Aud-Gustine James Obaje was amongst the scorers for the sixth consecutive match and consolidated
his status as the top scorer of the category with nine personal goals.

Play for most of the first half was quite balanced with goal-scoring opportunities at the two ends of the
the field so it was not surprising that the first half ended in a draw.

Meilak was cleared off the goalmouth by defender Nicholas Grech.

Ryan Meilak.

good shot following a personal action.
31’ (1-1) Munxar had a good reaction and scored the equaliser through a strike by Aron Buttigieg
following a corner action and with the ball hitting the crossbar before ending in the net.

Second Half
After the resumption, the Wanderers came out more determined and practically took command of play so
that they regained the lead during the opening stages of the second period and made sure of the win by
scoring a third goal.
7’ (2-1) Victoria went ahead for the second time when Neil Camilleri surprised Munxar’s defence and
headed in a goal from a corner action.
Munxar’s reaction was sterile while the Wanderers continued to administer play.
34’ (3-1) SK Victoria Wanderers sealed the win by scoring the third goal that arrived through Aud-
Gustine James Obaje who concluded in goal following another corner action.
