In the final match of the sixth round of the BOV Gozo Football League First Division, champions Qala Saints and SK Victoria Wanderers shared the spoils in a 2–2 draw, with both sides leaving the pitch disappointed not to have taken all three points.
Both teams were desperate for victory to close the gap on the league leaders and make up for their inconsistent start to the season. SK Victoria Wanderers looked set to claim all three points after taking a two-goal lead and gaining a numerical advantage, but Qala Saints produced a strong comeback. Despite a disappointing and nervous first hour, Qala recovered impressively and, even after being reduced to nine men, came closest to snatching a late winner.

Second Half:
The Wanderers made an excellent start after the interval, quickly doubling their lead and appearing in full control of the game — especially after Qala were reduced to ten men. However, the champions showed great character to fight back and were rewarded late on with an equaliser, despite finishing the match with nine players.
49’ (0–2) Victoria doubled their advantage when the Qala defence failed to clear a low cross from the right by Neil Camilleri, allowing Sam Harland to slot home from close range.
53’ Qala replied with a shot from Gilberto Carrara, but goalkeeper Samuel Camilleri saved comfortably.
62’ Another good chance for Qala saw Carrara misfire after a cross from the right caught the Victoria defence off guard.
63’ (Red Card) Qala were reduced to ten men when Sergipe was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident involving Matheus Camargo.
71’ (1–2) Qala pulled one back when André Martins’ pass following a throw-in found Lucas Baretto, who finished with a precise low shot into the corner.
72’ Qala came close again through a close-range effort by Carrara, which went just wide.
76’ (Disallowed Goal) Victoria had a goal by José Wilkson ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper during a corner.
84’ (2–2, Penalty) Qala equalised from the spot after substitute Jean Bugeja fouled Carrara in the area. André Martins converted confidently from 11 metres.
85’ (Red Card) Qala were reduced to nine men when Martins was shown a red card for dissent towards the assistant referee.
90+1’ Qala could have won it late when Baretto flicked on a free kick into the box, but Nicholas Inguanez fired over from a promising position.
