Gharb Rangers turned a defeat into 4-2 win against Oratory Youths, reigniting promotion hopes with three crucial points. The victory was harder than expected for Gharb, as Oratory controlled the first half and went into the break with a deserved two-goal lead. However, Gharb responded strongly in the second half, turning the score around with three goals and continued to dominate for the remainder of the match, sealing the win with a fourth goal late in the game.

First Half:

Oratory surprised their more highly ranked opponents and were the more dangerous side throughout the first half, earning a well-deserved two-goal lead and could have scored more from counterattacks.

22’ (0-1) Oratory opened the scoring with a close-range finish from Geordie Ellis.

24’ (0-2) Oratory doubled their lead through another goal from Geordie Ellis, who surprised the goalkeeper with a shot after a solo effort.

HT (0-2)

Second Half:

Gharb came out more determined after the break and managed to recover from the deficit within minutes, leaving Oratory demoralised. Gharb went on to dominate and scored twice more.

51’ (1-2) Gharb pulled one back with a goal from Luke Sultana that came after a corner kick.

53’ (2-2) Gharb equalised through Oliver Cremona, who found the net following a free kick.

64’ (3-2) Oratory continued to struggle defensively, allowing Għarb to take the lead with another goal from Luke Sultana.

84’ (4-2) Gharb secured the win with a fourth goal, a fine strike from Aud-Gustine James Obaje after a solo run.
