The most anticipated match from Match Day- 11 of the Second Division championship saw Sannat Lions claim a dramatic 2-1 victory over Zebbug Rovers, allowing them to join St Lawrence at the top of the standings thanks to the three points earned.

In this game, both teams had several scoring opportunities and the win could have gone either way. Sannat scored early, but Zebbug continued to share possession and managed to equalize in the second half. Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, Sannat scored the decisive goal in the third minute of added time, securing a win that could prove crucial in the promotion race.

Timeline

First Half:

The first half was highly competitive. Sannat appeared ready to take control after scoring an early goal, but Zebbug recovered and began to share possession, allowing both teams to find more space and create dangerous actions at both ends. The score remained uncertain throughout.

45+3’ (2-1) Sannat scored the winning goal following a counter-attack. Nicholas Grima, who had come on as a substitute in the second half, fired into the net from an angled position.
