In the direct clash between the two teams that were joint leaders before this match, Sannat Lions earned a 3–0 victory over St Lawrence Spurs, opening a three-point lead at the top of the standings with one match remaining for both sides.
The match lived up to expectations in front of a large crowd at the Kercem Stadium. For much of the encounter the result remained uncertain, but Sannat scored two late goals to make it difficult for St Lawrence to rescue the match. In this crucial fixture, Sannat showed greater experience in handling matches of this level. They set the tone early with a strong start, took the lead, and managed the game well, remaining composed even when St Lawrence applied pressure early in the second half.
St Lawrence were missing defender Keith Borg due to suspension and forward Felipe Augusto, who was absent for the second consecutive match because of injury. On the other hand, Sannat striker Igor Nedeljkovic played despite not being fully fit — and still emerged as the protagonist by scoring the two goals that sealed the decisive three points.

29’ (2-0) Sannat doubled their lead when Igor Nedeljkovic received a ball from an unmarked position on the right flank, entered the area and placed the ball in the goal as St Lawrence’s goalie left his position in an attempt to block the danger.
33’ (3–0) Penalty Sannat secured the win after being awarded a penalty for a handball by defender Jurgen Attard following a shot by substitute Keiran Calleja. Igor Nedeljkovic converted from the spot, extending the lead.
